Installation instructions

Here’s how to install our Wallcoverings and Murals. Don’t skip the prep work. Once our products are cut or hung, you will not be able to return them.

1. Check your delivery

Your order will be reviewed before it’s sent out but it’s important that you check it too.

Make sure that:

  • there are no visible faults
  • no damage has occurred during delivery
  • all rolls have the same print reference and each colour is clearly differentiated
  • you have enough rolls to finish the wall (we recommend including an extra allowance of 10-20% to allow for errors and pattern matching)

2. Take the temperature

Our wall coverings should be hung edge-to-edge, just like conventional wallpaper. They will not shrink as they dry but we do advise that you avoid installing them in temperatures above 25°C.

3. Gather your tools

Make sure you have everything you need before you start work.

  • Non-woven wallpaper glue
  • Sponge
  • Plumb line, ruler or spirit level
  • Pencil
  • Tape measure
  • Sponge brush (do not use a spatula)
  • Decorator’s brush or roller
  • Scissors or precision cutter scalpel
  • Step ladder

4. Prepare the surface

Wallpaper adhesives work best on porous surfaces. We recommend hanging our products on painted walls.

Make sure your surface is clean, dry and even.

Remove old wallpaper or scrape off any flakey paint. Then roughen the surface with sandpaper.

5. Apply the glue to the wall

Choose a good quality wallpaper adhesive. We recommend a pH neutral, solvent-free glue with added fungicide for best results. Do not use self-mix adhesives or heavy duty pastes.

Apply the glue to the wall, not to the back of the wall covering. Clear up any excess glue as you go; don’t leave it to dry.

Work on one length of wall at a time, pasting an area 5 cm wider than the width of the roll.

6. Hang the wall covering

Use a decorator’s brush or roller to smooth down the wall covering on the wall.

Make sure glue does not get onto the brush or roller and work from the centre to the edges to avoid air bubbles.

Use a clean, damp sponge to remove any paste that comes into contact with the surface but make sure the sponge is not excessively wet.

7. Trim the excess

Trim top and bottom with a ruler and scissors or, preferably, a precision cutter scalpel.

Inspect the result as you go along, to ensure that no air bubbles or shading are present.

When measuring and installing your first panel, keep a 5 cm margin at the bottom to prevent potential differences in wall height.

Wait until the glue is dry before cutting away the excess paper.
It will dry in about 24 hours.
